Revenue staff and his aide arrested with bribe money
SAHARSA, May 21 -- The Special Vigilance Unit (SVU) arrested a revenue employee and his personal assistant red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs.16,000 for generating a land revenue receipt, officials said.
The arrest was made at Mahishi Circle on Wednesday. An SVU team apprehended revenue employee Shyam Prasad Singh and his personal assistant, Fulchand Sah, at Belahi and Sirvar Halka (area) under Mahishi Circle following a complaint lodged by Mohammad Hayat, a resident of Manour village under Jalai police station.
"A deal was struck for Rs.16,000 in exchange for generating a land revenue receipt. As soon as the complainant handed over the money to the duo, the SVU team arrested both of them," officials said.
Pankaj Kumar Darad, Additional Director General of the SVU, said a case had been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, along with various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and further investigation was underway.
He said the arrested persons would be produced before the special vigilance court on Thursday. Meanwhile, a probe has been launched, police said....
