rail line linking major buddhist, jain sites gets min green light
PATNA, Sept. 30 -- The railway ministry has sanctioned Nawada-Pawapuri new rail line, an estimated cost of Rs.492.14 crore and key project under the East Central Railway (ECR), official said on Monday. The 34-kilometre railway line is seen as a crucial link connecting major sites in the Buddhist and Jain circuits, including Nalanda, Nawada, and Pawapuri - the Mahaparinirvana site of Lord Mahavir.
Officials believe that the project will significantly boost tourism and local economic development. Experts believe the new railway line will double passenger numbers by 2042 and significantly improve access to key religious and historical sites. The line is expected to be both beneficial and easily accessible to the public.
"With this railway line, revenues for the railways will increase, while travel will become easier and more affordable," officials said....
