NALANDA/SHEIKHPURA, Oct. 31 -- Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday challenged PM Narendra Modi to take to the stage in Bihar and declare that US President Donald Trump was fabricating claims about halting India's 'Operation Sindoor' military action against Pakistan on his personal intervention. "He can't say so because he is a coward," Gandhi thundered to roaring crowds at separate election rallies in Nalanda and Sheikhpura districts, accusing Modi of dancing to the tunes of foreign leaders, crony capitalists and US interests at the expense of Bihar's development. The provocative dare comes days after Trump, speaking at a campaign event in South Korea, reiterated his long-standing assertion that he averted a potential India-Pakistan war in May 2025 by phoning Modi and warning of trade repercussions if India proceeded with the cross-border strikes code named 'Operation Sindoor'- India's retaliatory response to the Pahalgama terror attack. Trump has made similar boasts over 50 times, including during his recent US presidential campaign trail, portraying himself as peacemaker who reined in Modi's aggression. Gandhi, leveraging the controversy, portrayed Modi's silence as evidence of weakness, contrasting it with the 'guts' of former PM Indira Gandhi, who, he said, stood firm against global pressures during the 1971 Bangladesh liberation war despite being a woman leader. The Congress leader didn't hold back on domestic grievances either. He slammed Union home minister Amit Shah for allegedly claiming Bihar lacked land for industries, retorting that the real issue was the Modi government's favouritism toward billionaires Adani and Ambani. "There is no dearth of land here, but Modi-Shah don't want Biharis to benefit-they snatch farmland from poor farmers at Rs.1 per acre and hand it to Adani-Ambani, waiving their loans worth lakhs of crores while China profits from their deals," Gandhi alleged, accusing the BJP of running on corporate donations that prioritise foreign interests over local jobs. Painting the NDA as anti-Bihari and anti-Constitution, Gandhi warned of a plot to 'steal votes' in Bihar, akin to alleged manipulations in Maharashtra and Haryana. "A government formed through vote chori can't be accountable to you. They have no faith in Ambedkar's Constitution-they want to erase it and drag us back to a pre-Independence era where Dalits, backwards and EBCs had no rights," he said, vowing MGB's victory would ensure a truly representative government of all castes, religions and classes. Gandhi's remarks electrified supporters as he campaigned vigorously for Mahagathbandhan (MGB) alliance candidates in the first phase....
