PURNEA, Dec. 20 -- A lower division clerk (LDC) in the office of sub divisional office (SDO) in Purnea has alleged that the sub divisional officer Anupam (writes single name), hurled caste slurs and physically assaulted him in his official chamber. He lodged a written complaint at the SC/ST (Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes) police station seeking justice on Friday. The SDO has declared the allegations baseless while admitting that he scolded him for dilly dallying attitude in discharging official duties. The complainant, identified as Ajay Kumar in his complaint which HT has seen, alleged that the SDO in his official chamber on December 18 (Thursday) used caste slurs and physically assaulted him. "I was forcibly asked to write a resignation letter," he alleged. In his complaint, he said, "I have been working in the office for three years discharging my duties honestly." On the other hand SDO declared the whole incident exaggerated and added "The allegations leveled against me are baseless as I have neither used any caste slurs nor physically assaulted him." He however admitted that the clerk was reprimanded for not discharging his duties related to disposing the disaster related work sincerely. "Several beneficiaries have to suffer for his lackadaisical attitude which can never be tolerated," SDO said adding "My intention was clear and I wanted him to dispose of his duties efficiently."...
