Protest after School 'expels' girl for wearing nosering
RANCHI, June 30 -- BJP students' organisation, Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarathi Parishad (ABVP), staged a demonstration on Monday at Ursuline School here after the school management expelled a girl student allegedly for wearing nosering, said people aware of the matter on Monday.
"If a student is subjected to discriminatory treatment due to her cultural or traditional identity, it is a matter of grave seriousness. The dignity, respect, and constitutional rights of every student must be safeguarded within education institutions," said ABVP central working committee member Disha Ditya during the agitation.
The school management in the evening said the girl was expelled for indiscipline.
"The student did not attend college for the first four days after it reopened on June 15. When she arrived on the fifth day, she was wearing a nosering. When the teacher in-charge of discipline asked her to remove the ring and hand it over to her guardians, the student argued with the teacher and behaved rudely," principal Sister Majella Ekka and former principal Sister Mary Grace said in a statement....
