PATNA, May 19 -- Property worth lakhs of rupees was destroyed after a massive fire broke out at a general store in front of Bihar School Examination Board office in Patna on Monday. Locals said that smoke suddenly started coming out of the shop after which the fire spread rapidly. The property worth lakh of rupees were destroyed in the incident, they claimed. Upon receiving the information, three fire brigade vehicles arrived at the scene and began extinguishing the fire. Police also arrived and began evacuating people to a safe distance. Fire department official Indrajit Kumar said that it seemed that a short circuit was the cause of the fire. Three fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames.
