GAYA JI, April 30 -- Gaya Ji district administration has ordered all primary schools to end classes before 11 am to protect children from severe heatwave conditions, officials said on Wednesday. Concerned school managements have been directed to schedule academic activities in compliance with the order, which remains in force until further notice. District magistrate (DM) Shashank Shubhankar, exercising power under section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), issued an order banning academic activities in all government and private schools, including pre-schools, anganwadi centres and coaching institutes, especially up to Class 5 after 11 am, and for Classes 6 to 8 after noon. Gaya Ji has been facing severe heat for the past five days and the roads look deserted after 9 am. The temperature rises up to 43deg Celsius during the afternoon.
