Priest of Ram Janaki temple found 'killed'
BETTIAH, Aug. 4 -- A 62-year-old priest of Ram Janaki temple, Mahant Rambabu Singh, was allegedly found murdered and his body was thrown on the bank of Budhi Gandak river in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district on Saturday late night.
According to the police, the matter came to the fore after the body of the priest was spotted by some villagers, covered with mud, on the bank of the Budhi Gandak at Bahadurpur village which falls under Pannapur police outpost in Meenapur block of Muzaffarpur district on Sunday early morning.
Sahiryar Akhtar, additional police officer (ASP), Muzaffarpur (East) said, "Prima facie, it appears to be a murder case. We are looking into the matter. A dog squad and FSL team have been pressed into the services."
The deceased was engaged in the priesthood of Ram Janaki temple, popularly known as 'Bahadurpur Math' for five years. His son Vivek Singh that it was impossible to think of reasons for his father's killing.
"He was of friendly temperament and had no enmity with anyone. The circumstantial evidence suggests that he has been dragged for a few meters on the bank while he was killed," he said....
