PATNA, May 24 -- The police headquarters (PHQ) has identified and initiated action to confiscate the properties of 1,434 habitual offenders, who have amassed wealth through illegal mining, liquor and land related business. The PHQ received proposals from SSPs, SPs and SDPO level officers across the state. Overall, 109 criminals from Muzaffarpur, 105 from Patna, 90 from Gaya, 77 from Nalanda, 72 from East Champaran, 66 from Nawada and 60 from Purnea. ADG (Law and Order) Sudhanshu Kumar, while talking with media persons said that the proposal for seizure of property against 428 of the 1,433 identified criminals, has been sent to the concerned court under the provision of section 107 of the BNSS. Notices have been issued against 103 offenders. So far, the court has passed property attachment order against four criminals, including two from Muzaffarpur and one each from Saran and Vaishali. He added that 33,126 criminals have been arrested in serious cases from January to May 15 this year. In this, 2,023 accused have been arrested for the murder, 311 for robbery, 573 for loot, 1,572 booked under the SC-ST Act. Sudhanshu further said the DGP control room was maintaining strict vigil ahead of sensitive festivals, including Ganga Dussehra and Bakrid.
