PATNA, Oct. 9 -- In view of the upcoming state assembly elections, Patna police on Wednesday launched security drives in collaboration with Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) following the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kartikeya Sharma said that after the Model Code of Conduct came into effect, special surveillance is being maintained on wanted criminals and anti-social elements who might attempt to influence the election atmosphere or disrupt law and order. "Swift and necessary legal action is being taken against such individuals," he added. "To ensure effective compliance with the Model Code of Conduct, directives have been issued to police officers across all sub-divisions and police stations. Regular flag marches, area domination exercises, intensive vehicle checks, and surveillance campaigns are being conducted," the SSP said. He added that special monitoring is also being carried out on social media platforms so that immediate action can be taken against any misleading, provocative, or law-and-order-threatening activity. "Under the Crime Control Act, actions have been initiated against 184 individuals, each required to report daily to their local police station. Violations will invite strict action," the SSP said....
