GAYA JI, Sept. 8 -- In view of the arrival of an estimated 2.5 million domestic and foreign devotees in Pitri Paksha Mahasangam 2025 here, the state tourism and district administration have made arrangements for Pind Daan for 25,000 people at a time. The ritual will be performed under waterproof pandals on 54 sacred Vedis (altars). A total of 2,500-bed tent city, 111 hotels, 507 private houses and 250 houses of pilgrimage priests have been identified for the accommodation of devotees. Over 3.5 lakh devotees reached Gaya Ji for Pind Daan on Sunday, the first day of Pitri Paksha that will end on September 21. Last year, there were above 2.2 million devotees, officials said. Gaya Ji municipal corporation has for the first time arranged separate pink toilets for women devotees. Special hi-tech arrangements have been made for sanitation that are being monitored with drones. The attendance and location of the sanitation staff, following proper dress code, is being recorded through an app. Remote-operated trash boats are being used to clean the Falgu river. The boats can remove 300-400 kg of garbage at a time, district magistrate (DM) Shashank Subhankar said. "At least 6,000 policemen, mounted police, BSF, NDRF, SDRF, monitored through a special control room, have been deployed for security in the mela area, divided into 43 zones and 339 sectors under drone and watch towers surveillance. Total 102 health camps and 80 health centres have been set up with round the clock availability of doctors and paramedical staff along with 70 beds reserved in major hospitals," the DM said. Guides and translators have been made available for foreign devotees including special housing, food and transport facilities, cultural programmes arranged for them. Earlier on Saturday evening, tourism minister Raju Kumar Singh and ministers Prem Kumar, Sunil Kumar and Sanjay Sarawagi jointly inaugurated the Pitri Paksha Mahasangam- 2025 in a colourful programme....
