Picking up clues from dump yard, police crack murder case of minor
PATNA, April 27 -- Sometimes the simplest clue helps the police crack the most horrific of murder cases. Patna police on Sunday claimed to have solved one such challenging case due to the thoughtfulness and alertness of DSP-2-Patna City Guarav Kumar.
Pouncing on the most innocuous of clues, the FSL team led by him searched through a dumping yard and found the victim girl's slippers and bloodstained pillow, black trouser of the accused and other items. The victim's family instantly identified the girl's slippers and her clothes.
A 10-yr-old girl, student of Class 4, was found dead with multiple injuries marks on her body and wrapped in a blanket near Begampur Sati Chowra under Bypass police station on April 23. The girl had gone missing since April 24 morning at around 6 after she left her house in school uniform.
The DSP said it was a blind case for the police. "Soon after the incident, we kept searching for two nights to crack the case. I, along with the FSL team, searched in and around all the areas and landed up at the dumping yard. "The police recovered the girl's slippers, black clothes, rope and blanket from the dumping yard to give us some clues that the accused must be living around the place, which helped us crack the case," he added.
The police officer said that during investigation, it came to light that the girl used to go to the house of the accused. "We soon entered the rented house of the suspect and searched the entire house. The police identified the accused as Ranjeet Kumar (40) who used to sell stickers and other items kept in an umbrella. As he saw the police in his house, he was scared. The FSL team also found blood of the girl from the bed of the accused," he added.
The police officer said when they took Ranjeet into custody, he admitted that he was luring the girl for the last one and half months with bad intention.
"On April 22, when the girl was returning to her house in school uniform after giving milk to a man, I lured the girl in the name of giving chocolate. I entered the house with the girl. As I closed the main gate, the girl started crying for help. I was scared and attacked her on her head with a stone (spice grinding tool). She died between 8am and 10am," he told the police.
Patna SSP K Sharma said the accused tried to rape the girl but when he failed in his endeavour, he killed her by crushing her head with a stone. The accused kept the body in his room for the whole day and night. He was going to throw the body in the pond after wrapping it in a blanket. However, when he saw a police patrol vehicle, he threw the body on the street and came back to his room," he added.
The police also seized the accused's cell phones in which they found several obscene videos and pictures and a heavy stone used in the crime....
