PATNA, Oct. 12 -- The seat-sharing in the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) - which is said to be final - reportedly hit last-minute glitch with smaller partners as HAM-S leader Jitan Ram Manjhi and RLM leader Upendra Kushwaha making claims for more seats than offered. NDA leaders, nevertheless, indicated that the deal would be announced on Sunday and most likely in New Delhi. This came a day ahead of the expected meeting of the Central Election Committee of the BJP, which includes Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior leaders, to finalise the names of the party candidates. Both Manjhi and Kushwaha met BJP national president J P Nadda in New Delhi on Saturday and demanded more seats. NDA leaders, on the other hand, said that the seat-sharing formula with the Janata Dal (United) and the LJP (RV) had almost been finalised. Manjhi, also a Union minister in the Narendra Modi cabinet, clarified that he was not upset over seat-sharing but had made some requests. "I was not miffed. I only had requests. We have to ensure that the NDA wins. The double-engine government is required for the public interest. We want to see Nitish Kumar as the CM again," Manjhi said. "We have expressed our views before the senior leadership of the BJP. We have all the options open. There is an old saying that no one is anyone's friend in politics, no one is anyone's enemy," HAM(S)'s national general secretary Rajesh Pandey told reporters after the meeting. HAM-S contested on seven seats in 2020 and won four seats with a vote share of 0.89%. Kushwaha held a meeting with Nadda for more than an hour. Kushwaha's party (previously RLSP) contested 99 seats and lost all seats and managed a vote share of 1.77%. BJP Bihar president Dilip Jaiswal announced that seat-sharing would be announced on Sunday. "All is well in the NDA and the seat share of the allies will be announced by tomorrow. Everything has been decided in the NDA. The NDA is moving forward with firm unity. I think the central leadership will make an announcement this evening or by 11 am tomorrow," he said. JD(U) working president Sanjay Jha and Union minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lallan Singh, too, left for New Delhi on Saturday for further talks. This has given rise to speculations that the seat sharing can be announced in New Delhi itself. "Wherever there is a big alliance, all the parties have discussions. I think it is natural and all the parties are doing it. We have to win with a majority and the better the agreement, the better the results. Everyone wants the government to be formed in Bihar again under the leadership of Nitish Kumar," said BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy. The Bihar BJP state core committee, in the meantime, held a meeting with senior BJP leaders including union home minister Amit Shah and party president JP Nadda on the ensuing Bihar polls and discussed candidates. The meeting came a day ahead of the expected meeting of the Central Election Committee of the BJP, which includes Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior leaders, to finalise the names of the party candidates for the Bihar assembly polls scheduled to be held in two phases on November 6 and 11. According to NDA sources, the JD(U) is likely to contest around 101 or 102 seats and the BJP on one seat less than the JD(U)....
