PURNIA, Sept. 5 -- The 14-day Voter Adhikar Yatra (VAY) that concluded on September 1 in Patna left Purnia lawmaker Pappu Yadav in the doldrums. He managed to accompany two-day VAY in Seemanchal' three districts Katihar, Purnia and Araria and he was seen pouring praises on both Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav. He even went on declaring Tejashwi Yadav 'Jannayak' (a leader of the masses). Rahul Gandhi's VAY missed Kishanganj. "But the Congress party's 'no' to the leader in sharing the dais with Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav left him and his supporters red-faced. However, Pappu Yadav later told media persons that he had felt giddy and hence sat down on the chair, his explanation hardly satisfied his supporters. Later, he declared he would answer it in two weeks. "We want our leader to revive and restructure his own JAP (Jan Adhikar Party) which he had merged into the Congress party before the Lok Sabha polls. "If there had been JAP today, our leader would not have faced such humiliation by the leader of the party which has hardly any base in Bihar," a diehard supporter of Pappu Yadav said and demanded the re-emergence of a new JAP in Bihar ahead of the assembly election. Another leader and close aide of Pappu Yadav sees conspiracy against his leader ahead of the poll in the similar fashion as it was before the LS polls. "The same game is being played at the instigation of the RJD in Bihar, and as long as Congress party plays second fiddle politics in Bihar, it will never rise," he told HT. The win of Pappu Yadav in the last LS election despite the vehement opposition of Tejashwi Yadav had sown the seeds of political rivalry between two Yadav leaders and neither of them is ready to accept the other's importance. "But one thing Pappu Yadav must realise that Lalu Prasad is the undisputed leader of Yadavas in Bihar and as long as he is alive, hardly any leader from the community can replace him," a senior RJD leader told HT pointing out the remark given by him after his alleged humiliation in Patna in which he had said, "Yadav community is responsible for his political predicament." Political analysts observe that Grand Alliance (GA) in Bihar doesn't see any utility of Pappu Yadav in Bihar when it comes to transfer of votes. "Pappu Yadav won LS polls last year only because the whole RJD votes (Read Muslim and Yadav) were transferred to him after RJD fielded a much weaker candidate against him," Prof Shubhankar Jha said. On the other hand, another political observer Prof N K Srivasatava believes, "In Seemanchal, people don't want Pappu Yadav to die politically as it is he who has been easily accessible unlike other leaders." He, however, said, "Pappu Yadav can win but he can't fetch votes for others and this is why GA, especially RJD, doesn't see his utility in electoral politics, despite his personal popularity in some pockets."...
