Ranchi, Nov. 1 -- The Jharkhand government on Friday told the high court that there was no leak of the combined graduate level (CGL) examination paper held on September 21 and 22 last year, and that rumours had spread through the circulation of guessed questions, as the hearing on a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking a CBI probe into the alleged paper leak continued for the third consecutive day, an advocate familiar with the matter said. "As it was submitted on behalf of the state that no evidence of a paper leak was found, the court raised some pertinent questions. The court asked whether the mobile phones of the specific group of 28 candidates who were taken to Nepal by the accused persons - who allegedly provided them with answers to memorise for the JSSC CGL examination - were checked. When it was claimed that nothing could be found in the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL) due to technical reasons, the court further asked why the devices were not sent to another FSL. The court also questioned how the agency repeated such a large number of old questions," the high court advocate told Hindustan Times. Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) advocate Sanjay Piprawall confirmed the development, saying all the questions raised by the court were answered. "All the questions raised by the court were answered. It was submitted that there was no paper leak, but that rumours were spread by circulating questions. Now the matter will be heard further on November 3," he said. Government advocate Piyush Chitrest refused to comment. "The matter is sub judice before the court. The next hearing is on November 3. Let the matter conclude, and we will share all the details," he said. The Jharkhand high court on December 17 last year imposed a stay on the publication of the result after hearing a PIL filed by a coaching institute director, Prakash Kumar, who had approached the court seeking a proper probe into the conduct of the examination, pointing out irregularities and alleging a paper leak. Advocate B. Mohana, appearing on behalf of those candidates whose documents were verified before the publication of the final result, requested that the stay on the publication of the final result be vacated, but the court did not agree.
