Nitish reaches out to teachers
PATNA, Aug. 8 -- Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday directed the education department to seek three choices from teachers having issues with inter-district transfer.
"I have been getting suggestions from various sources on the recent transfer of teachers and I have done detailed review. The posting will be done after seeking three choices from the teachers having problems with inter-district transfer. I have directed the department in this regard," he wrote on X.
The CM said for transfer within district, the committee under the district magistrate concerned would take a call so that teachers could get posting in choice blocks or nearest places as far as possible," he added.
Kumar said teachers were important for the future of children. "It is my request to them all not to worry about these things and focus wholeheartedly on education of children," he added.
Earlier, ACS (education) S Siddharth had written to all district magistrates and education officers that the district establishment committee headed by the respective DM would review all complaints related to transfers within district and issue fresh transfer order.
"Regarding inter-district cases, the committee headed by the DM would carry out review and send a comprehensive list with clear recommendations to director, primary education, who would issue the final order," Siddharth wrote.
The ACS also wrote that while doing transfer and posting of teachers, the election requirements and the Election Commission letters issued in recent months be kept in mind. He also set a deadline of August 31 to review complaints and complete transfers from September 1-10.
The department has also opened a window for mutual transfer of teachers and all desirous teachers have to apply afresh on the eshikshakosh portal.
There were several grievances against transfer and posting of teachers on such a large-scale and leaders of the ruling dispensation had also apprised the CM of the difficulties being faced and the need to sort out the vexed issue, as the Opposition had also started playing it up.
Teachers' bodies were also raising the issue and taking to social media to ventilate their grievances in a bid to draw the attention of the authorities and the CM. They also wanted that a decision be taken for transfer of teachers in Patna also and sought intervention of the CM, which has happened.
