PATNA, Sept. 5 -- Continuing his Samvad programme, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday interacted with party workers and women in the run-up to the assembly polls. Kumar also spoke about recent welfare measures. Under the Social Security Pension Scheme, the monthly pension for the elderly, disabled, and widows has been raised from Rs.400 to Rs.1,100, benefiting 1.12 crore people. Recalling the past, he said electricity supply before 2005 was "pathetic," with rural areas receiving little to no power and even Patna getting only about eight hours of supply daily.
