Names of Tiwari's kin removed from FIR; Cong seeks Rs.1 cr aid
ARA, June 27 -- In relief to the family of Bharat Bhushan Tiwari, a youth from Bilauti village in Bhojpur district who died after being injured in a police encounter on June 17, police removed his father's and brother's names from the FIR. The FIR had booked them under sections of the Arms Act, attempted murder and for aiding Tiwari during his face-off with the police.
Bhojpur Superintendent of Police Raj confirmed the removal of their names from the case. Based on the statement of the then Shahpur police station in-charge, Rajesh Malakar, a case was registered against Bharat Bhushan Tiwari, his father, Kashi Nath Tiwari, and brother, Chandan Tiwari, under BNS sections 132 (criminal force against a public servant to deter them from performing their official duties), 109(1) (attempt to murder), 351(2) (Criminal Intimidation) and 352 (intentional insult with the intent to provoke a breach of the peace), and section 27 (illegal use of arms and ammunition) of the Arms Act, in connection with the firing incident on the morning of June 17. However, after supervising the case, police removed both names.
Meanwhile, solidarity for Tiwari's family and calls for punishment to his killers continue to rise.
Madan Mohan Jha, former president of the Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee, member of the Bihar Legislative Council and leader of the party in the Legislative Council, along with Dr Shridhar Tiwari, district president of the Bhojpur District Congress Committee, visited Bharat Tiwari's village and met Tiwari's parents and other family members.
He accused the state government and district administration for failure in the entire incident. "This is a murder orchestrated by the administration, and the Congress party will strongly corner the government in the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council to ensure that the harshest punishment, or even death penalty, is given to guilty policemen," Jha said.
He alleged that the state government is covering up the crime in the name of investigation. He also accused the state government of targeting Brahmins as they are being targeted in Uttar Pradesh.
"The Congress party will never tolerate this. Rahul Gandhi is in constant touch with the situations here and when he tours Bihar next month, he will meet the Tiwari family," he said.
He also demanded that Rs.1 crore compensation be given to the bereaved family....
