PATNA, Sept. 4 -- A youth was made hostage by four people, including the mukhiya (village head) of Bhawanpura panchayat in Naugachhia police district, who allegedly pulled down his pants and injected petrol into his private parts, police said. Victim Navin Kumar was undergoing treatment at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital, Bhagalpur, they said. The incident took place at Dayalpur village on August 31. Police said the case was linked to a theft allegedly committed at the house of one Ajay Singh. An FIR was lodged against mukhiya Vineet Kumar Singh alias Bunty Singh, Lalit Singh, Ajay Singh and Pappu Singh. In his complaint, Navin alleged he was called to Ajay Singh's house on August 31, where he was confined for about 20 hours and tortured. "The accused pressured me to confess to stealing Rs.1.5 lakh. When I refused, they injected petrol five times, forced me to admit the crime and threatened of dire consequences. A theft of Rs.5 lakh had taken place at Ajay's house, and his nephew named me, claiming I had received Rs.1.5 lakh. The accused first tried to hush up the matter at the panchayat level, but my family later informed the police," he stated. Navin said he had not committed the theft and refused to falsely confess. Ajay Singh, however, denied the allegation. "Rs.1.5 lakh was stolen from my house on August 25 after breaking the lock. During the panchayat, Navin himself confessed and assured to return the stolen money. But as part of a conspiracy, he has now implicated us. We have faith in the law; the truth will come out in the investigation," he said....
