BETTIAH, July 20 -- A joint police team comprising personnel from five police stations, led by two Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs), on Sunday arrested four people, including the alleged mastermind, and busted a mini cartridge manufacturing unit during a raid in the Chakia subdivision of East Champaran district, officials said. Sharing the information in a WhatsApp group comprising police and media representatives, East Champaran Superintendent of Police (SP) Swarn Prabhat said that acting on a tip-off, a team comprising personnel from Mehsi, Chakia, Madhuban, Garahiya and Fenhara police stations raided multiple locations and unearthed the illegal cartridge manufacturing unit at Ojha Tola under the Chakia police station area. The raids began around midnight on Saturday. "More than 500 finished and semi-finished cartridges were recovered, and four people, including the alleged mastermind behind the factory and a supplier of the cartridges, have been taken into custody," the SP said, describing it as the first seizure of its kind in East Champaran. The SP said the quality of the cartridges appeared to be very high. Police also seized machinery, metal sheets, chemicals including nitric acid, red phosphorus, acetone and charcoal, gunpowder, and other materials used in manufacturing cartridges. Police identified the alleged mastermind as Shrikant Singh, a resident of Garahiya. A senior police officer, requesting anonymity, said Singh allegedly procured the raw materials required for manufacturing cartridges through online orders and supplied the finished cartridges through a network of conduits operating across different parts of Bihar....
