Maoist's death: 3 docs suspended for making shoddy autopsy report
PATNA, March 14 -- The Bihar government suspended three doctors, including the then deputy superintendent of Jamui Sadar Hospital, following the instruction of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in a matter related to custodial death of Maoist Siddhu Koda alias Munsi alias Munsi Hembram, official said on Thursday.
Those who were suspended have been identified as deputy superintendent Syed Naushad Ahmad, medical officers and members of a medical board Devendra Kumar and Nagedra Kumar. A notification to this effect has been issued. They were suspended on the charges of not mentioning outsiders' name as independent witnesses, cause of death, evidence of bleeding from the nose, ears and mouth of the deceased and cut marks on the body in their postmortem report. According to Bihar government notification, the NHRC had on October 29, 2025 directed the government to take disciplinary action against the medical board team which issued the postmortem report.
The NHRC found that as per police report, Sidhu Koda was arrested on February 22, 2020 from the border area of Jamui, Jharkhand. On his information two other Naxalites were also arrested leading to recovery of various weapons. During further search operation, the deceased complained of pain in chest and abdomen. The STF staff could not take him to Sadar Hospital Jamui due to traffic block on NH 333 by the Maoists supporters and he had to be taken there through jungle route, and was declared brought dead, when he reached hospital.
In the post mortem report of the deceased, no external injury was found on any part of the body, a small amount of dried blood was present in the nostril. With regard to cause of death, the doctor opined that for immediate cause of death no exact finding could be established. However, the cause of death was opined as "Cardio Respiratory failure". No poison was detected in the Viscera....
