Jamshedpur, April 30 -- An extremist of banned LWE outfit CPI (Maoist), carrying a bounty of Rs.1 lakh, was neutralised during an ongoing encounter with the security forces led by CRPF's strike team CoBRA 209 in the Rutugutu jungles inside Kolhan Forest Division under Tonto police station of West Singhbhum district, police said on Wednesday. "A Maoist extremist identified as area committee member (ACM) Amrit alias Israil Purty has been neutralised during the ongoing encounter in Tunbera-Rutugutu jungles on the bordering areas of Tonto PS and Goilkera PS limits on Wednesday. An SLR, ammunition etc. have been recovered. Search operation is still ongoing," Amit Renu, West Singhbhum SP, told HT on Wednesday. The SP said joint forces of CoBRA battalion-209, CRPF, Jharkhand Jaguar and district police were conducting anti-Naxal operation early Wednesday morning when the Naxals opened fire on the advancing jawans. "There was an intelligence input of movements by the Maoist politburo member Misir Besra-led squad in the Rutugutu, Boroi and Tunbera jungles. Subsequently, the search operation was launched around 4.30 am on Wednesday," added the SP. "The encounter site was on the border of Tonto and Goilkera PSs and indicated that the 45-50 remaining Maoists have broken down their ranks into smaller squads of 5-7 members each, some shifting base into the Kolhan Forest from Saranda. Today's site is near Dugunia village under Goilkera PS where zonal committee member Saluka Kayam's squad had brutally killed a former Maoist Ramesh Champia alias Chamra on Saturday," a senior official said. The slain Maoist on Wednesday Israil Purty alias Amrit hailed from the same Sangajata village under Goilkera PS from where special zonal committee member Sagen Angariya, carrying a bounty of Rs.5 lakh, hails. People aware of the matter said Purty belonged to the central technical cadre and the Jharkhand government had declared a reward of Rs.1 lakh on his head. 'The CT cadres are mainly entrusted with the responsibility of preparing and laying IEDs, wiring and detonating kind of jobs," they said. The police have already registered an FIR against four Naxals including ZCMs Saluka Kayam and Chandan Lohra, both carrying bounty of Rs.10 lakh each, and SZM Sagen Angariya and another unnamed Maoist for the killing of former Maoist Chamra. It may be noted that six CoBRA battalion-210 and 205 personnel, including two officers, were injured in IED blasts and heavy firing during a two-day encounter with the Misir Besra and Asim Mondal led squad near Babudera Dalaidera and Chadradera villages between Jaraikela and Chotanagra PS limits on April 15 and 16 last....
