SAHARSA, March 15 -- A 29-year-old man with an alleged criminal background was shot dead after unidentified assailants fired several rounds at him soon after he left his home in an SUV. The incident occurred near a cinema hall in Saharsa around 10:30 pm on Friday. The shooting took place a few hours after Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar concluded his Samriddhi Yatra in the district and left for Khagaria. In a press note issued by Saharsa police on Saturday morning, they stated that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) has been formed to investigate the murder. "Prima facie, it appears to be a case of personal enmity, but we are probing the matter from all possible angles. Multiple spent cartridges have been recovered from the scene," the police said, adding that several rounds of firing cannot be ruled out. The deceased has been identified as Satish Kumar Jha, alias Chhotu Mishra, a resident of Vidyapatinagar locality under Sadar police station. The deceased had recently come out of jail....
