PURNEA, July 1 -- In a rare incident of its kind, a 25-year-old youth fired multiple rounds inside a drug de-addiction centre in Bihar's Katihar on Monday evening, police said. The youth was not an inmate and was released from the centre two weeks ago, police said, adding that they had arrested him and seized his weapon. Police said the man identified as Babloo Yadav, a resident of Naya Tola in Katihar town area, had undergone treatment at tcentre for about three months and he was released after his parents cited his upcoming marriage. "On Tuesday, the youth went to the centre located at K B Jha College Road falling under Town Police Station and demanded medication without following proper procedures. Because rules dictated that the drugs could not be handed out outside the centre, he was denied," a police officer said. Enraged over this, he returned later with a pistol and started firing, said Mahesh Das, the director of the centre. Das said the youth threatened patients and staff of the centre. He said, "The accused underwent treatment at the centre for three months and his father Suresh Yadav got him released citing his marriage." Shocked over the incident, he said, "The incident could have taken many lives." Police promptly responded to the call, took the suspect into custody, and initiated legal proceedings. Station house officer (SHO) Kundan Singh, while confirming the incident, said, "An FIR has been lodged on the basis of the written complaint of the centre's director under sections 109 (attempt to murder), 355 (misconduct by a drunkard person) of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) besides section 27 the Arms Act. "We are investigating the incident from all possible angles and trying to find out who supplied the weapon to him," he added....
