Dhanbad, July 21 -- CPI (ML), Janata Shramik Sangh and Jharkhand Colliery Mazdoor Union on Monday organised a one-day dharna at Randhir Verma Chowk under the banner of "Chhatra-Yuva Akrosh Diwas", demanding the resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan and expressing solidarity with social activist Sonam Wangchuk. Addressing the gathering, Jharkhand Colliery Mazdoor Union Area-7 secretary Mithun Yadav alleged that governments earlier paid attention to the demands of hunger strikers, but such concerns were now being ignored. He criticised the alleged police action against Wangchuk during his protest and claimed that the Centre had remained silent on issues affecting students and the public. CPI (ML) leader Haldhar Mahto said, "Similar protests were being held across the country in support of Wangchuk and to demand the resignation of the minister" .
