Key accused remanded in 14-day judicial custody
DARBHANGA, Aug. 30 -- A Darbhanga court on Friday sent Mohammad Rizvi alias Raja to 14 days of judicial custody for allegedly making objectionable remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother from a platform during the Voter Adhikar Yatra. The action comes amid political outrage after a video of the remarks went viral.
According to police, Rizvi, a resident of Bhapura, was arrested in connection with Simri police station case number 243/25 and produced before Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Junaid Alam, who remanded him to custody till September 11.
The case was registered on the basis of a written complaint filed by BJP district chief Aditya Narayan Chaudhary Manna on August 28. In his complaint, Manna alleged that anti-national elements had used derogatory language against the PM and his late mother during a public meeting. The complaint also accused Mohammad Naushad of Devra Bandhauli village and his associates of conspiring to strengthen anti-national forces....
