Jharkhand HC reserves verdict in PIL demanding CBI probe in CGL paper leak case
Ranchi, Nov. 4 -- The Jharkhand high court reserved its judgment on a PIL seeking a CBI probe into the alleged leak of the combined graduate level (CGL) exam paper organised by the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) on September 21 and 22, an advocate familiar with the matter said, adding the order would be pronounced on Tuesday.
"The matter was heard on four consecutive working days by the division bench comprising chief justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan and justice Rajesh Shankar," the HC advocate said.
The advocate further said that the state and JSSC argued for the examination's fairness, stating there was no paper leak, while advocates appearing on behalf of the petitioner argued for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe to determine how the paper leaked and who was behind it.
"The advocate appearing on behalf of the petitioner submitted that a proper probe is required, as from the very beginning, the state tried to minimise a matter of great public interest," the advocate said.
A total of 304,769 candidates appeared in the CGL examination last year. Selected candidates will be appointed to 2,025 positions in various state government departments....
