PATNA, Sept. 24 -- Hareram Yadav, one of the accused in the molestation and assault of a minor in Jamui was slapped by a lawyer while he was leaving the Jamui court after appearing in connection with the case on Wednesday evening. Hareram, a close associate of Nandan Yadav, was arrested on Tuesday and produced before the civil court around 6pm. Reports said Hareram was slapped by advocate Akash Pandey. After this, other lawyers also tried to assault him, but police took him away safely. Total, five accused have been arrested so far in the case which came to light on Monday after a video of the horrific incident surfaced having taken place on the outskirts of Jamui town on September 19 evening. Jamui Police produced the accused before the court on Wednesday. After hearing, the court forwarded him to judicial custody. Outside the court, an angry crowd made snide remarks against Hareram, calling out his heinous act. In another development, Jamui Police also arrested Ganauri Yadav, father of main accused Nandan, who was arrested after the police encounter. Ganauri Yadav was an accused in the murder of two brothers in Pratappur village in 2003 and had been on the run since then. According to the police, on April 3, 2003, DP Yadav and Pune Yadav were killed over a contractual dispute in Pratappur. After the incident, the deceased's mother Sansari Devi had lodged an FIR at Town police station, naming Ganauri Yadav as accused. More importantly, the District Bar Association has taken a decision that no lawyer would represent the accused in the case for their defence. Association's president Sitaram Singh and general secretary Amit Kumar, said, "No one lawyer will represent the accused in this case. Advocate Pandey admitted to slapping the accused and told reporters, "There was a lot of anger in my mind about the kind of incident that happened with the minor. Jamui is completely ashamed of what the accused has done. If we see, this slap is not just on his face, but a symbol of people's anger against his actions. Before being a lawyer, I am a human being and I also have human sensibilities. In this rage, I slapped the accused." Asked if he took the law into his own hands, Pandey said, "If the law punishes me in this case, I am ready to accept it, but when it happens to a daughter, we will not be able to tolerate it."...
