JAMMU, Feb. 23 -- A top Jaish commander was among three Pakistani terrorists who were killed in an intense gun fight with the security forces in Chatroo area of Kishtwar district on Sunday, said officials. Though Army hasn't confirmed the identities of the slain terrorists yet, one of them is believed to be Jaish commander Saifullah, who carried a reward of Rs.10 lakh on his head. "A joint operation was launched by the Army, police and paramilitary CRPF in the Chatroo forest area of Kishtwar under Operation Trashi-I to eliminate the terrorists," said a top defence official. Para commandoes of the elite 2 Para special forces, soldiers of 11 Rashtriya Rifles, cops of the Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF took part in the operations, he said. "The three terrorists were hiding in a Dhok (a mud hutment of nomadic Gujjars) on a slope of a hill in Passerkot area of Chatroo. Acting swiftly, the security forces cordoned the area and a gun fight ensued," said the official. A local from Chatroo said, "The army used rocked propelled grenades to blow up the Dhok. A thick smoke was seen billowing out of it." A Defence spokesperson said that two AK-47 assault rifles and other war-like stores were recovered from the encounter site.
