inter-state robber arrested with accomplice after being shot in encounter
PATNA, May 28 -- An interstate notorious bank robber was injured in a police encounter and his associate arrested in rural Patna, early on Wednesday, police said.
The encounter took place in Charma village falling under Masaurhi police station area around 5.15 am after the Bihar STF received a tip-off about the accused's movement. Acting on the information, a team of special operation group (SOG) and Patna police led by a DSP rank police officer rushed to the spot to nab him.
According to DG (operations-cum-STF chief), the accused, Ajay Paswan alias Badal, a native of Darveshpur village falling under Maner police station, his associate Ajay Yadav alias Shrawan alias Chhotu, a native of Koderma in Jharkhand, and others were planning to commit a dacoity in the gold showroom located in Masaurhi.
"When the police team attempted to stop them, Badal allegedly opened fire at the SOG personnel. In retaliation, police fired back, and a bullet struck Badal in the right leg," said the STF official. He was immediately taken into custody and admitted to a nearby primary health centre and later referred to the Patna Medical College and Hospital. Police recovered a pistol, magazine, four live cartridges, two empty cartridges, country-made pistol and a motorcycle from their possession. Some of his associates, however, managed to flee the scene.
According to the STF chief, Badal is involved in murder of Kamla Choudhary (Arwal), Kameshwar Singh (Kinjar), dacoity in the Bank of India (Chatra branch, Jharkhand), Bihta branch of Canara Bank, Paliganj branch of Bandhan Bank, PNB branch of Paliganj and Gramin Bank of Mehandia in Arwal district. Badal is also facing cases under NDPS Act, Arms Act and Explosives Act....
