PATNA, Jan. 16 -- The suspicious suicide case of a 17-year-old NEET aspirant on Thursday took a twist after police arrested Shambhu Girls' hostel owner as investigation found that sexual assault cannot be ruled out. The girl, a resident of Jehanabad, was found unconscious in her room at Munna Chak area in Chitragupt Nagar police station area on January 9 evening. The girl remained under treatment for several days but succumbed on January 11 at the hospita. Her death sparked outrage on January 12 with protestors blocking Kargil chowk, demanding arrest of the culprit. A panel of doctors conducted the girl's autopsy and viscera was preserved. A senior police officer had claimed that a gynaecologist who had examined the girl found no evidence of sexual assault. Her family however alleged she was raped inside the hostel and then killed, even as the doctors and police were claiming that she died by consuming a large quantity of sleeping pills.
