PATNA, May 19 -- The convoy of Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) MLA from Barachatti, Jyoti Manjhi, was allegedly attacked in Mohanpur police station area of Gaya Ji district, police said on Monday. The legislator, daughter-in-law of Union minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, alleged she was first stopped and then suddenly attacked, abused and mistreated. There was also a scuffle with her security personnel. The incident took place when she was on way to attend a social event at Gambhira village under Mohanpur police station. An FIR against 20 people, including seven named persons--Paltu Yadav, Sunil Yadav, Deepak Yadav, Sita Yadav, Karu Malakar, Rahul Malakar and Vikram Thakur-- was registered, police said. Police said, according to the MLA's complaint, she was going to attend an event organised by Adarsh Samaj when her convoy stopped as a vehicle (BR02 M-2542) was found parked in the middle of the road. When the security personnel urged to remove the vehicle, some people suddenly became enraged and started pushing and shoving the bodyguards. The MLA said when she got out of the vehicle after seeing the situation, she faced indecent behaviour. The MLA has alleged the convoy was stopped in a planned manner, in an attempt to kill her. A video of the incident has also went viral on social media. It shows a pickup van parked in front of the MLA's vehicle. The legislator is sitting inside the vehicle, but the security personnel are getting down and removing the troublemakers. During this, some people get angry and manhandle the security personnel. After getting information, police reached the spot and pacified the people after which the road for the convoy was cleared. Bodhgaya SDPO Amit Jaiswal said, "Legal action would be taken against the culprits on the basis of video footage and other evidence."...
