Global narcotics ring intercepted in Ranchi
Ranchi, Feb. 27 -- Jharkhand Police intercepted a high-tech narcotics smuggling operation here on Thursday.
Acting on intelligence regarding a parcel traversing international borders via the dark web, a team under SP (City) Paras Rana and led by the DSP Kotwali Prakash Soy set a perimeter around Ojha Market, Hesal.
At 1:30 p.m.,a 20-yr-old local Kumar Abhishek, arrived on a scooter to collect a package that had travelled over 7,000 kilometres from the Netherlands. Upon his apprehension, police recovered a white envelope marked with the 'NEDERLAND INTERNATIONAL' stamp.
The concealment method mirrored international smuggling tactics. Inside the envelope lay a seemingly innocent Belgian greeting card. However, the card served as a vehicle for 100 patches of LSD (Lysergic Acid Diethylamide).
During interrogation, Abhishek and his accomplice, Avinash Mishra, revealed the digital fingerprints of their operation. The duo utilised the anonymous layers of the dark web to contact Dutch suppliers. To evade the banking system, the transaction was settled via cryptocurrency, police said....
