SASARAM, May 11 -- A girl was killed by her family after she was allegedly caught with her boyfriend at a village in the Kargahar police station area of Rohtas district on Saturday night. The matter came to light after locals noticed the semi-burnt body of the girl on the banks of the Dharmawati river, which is under the jurisdiction of Barhari police station, in the morning and informed the police. Police arrived at the scene, recovered the body and sent it for postmortem examination. A case under sections 103 (1) and 238 of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered with Barhari police station against unidentified accused. Superintendent of police (SP) Raushan Kumar ordered a thorough probe, police said. Later, the police arrested the injured boyfriend who informed them that he was assaulted at the girl's house and revealed the girl's identity to the police. Based on these leads, the police arrested the girl's brother who allegedly confessed to the crime. The brother told the police that the entire family had gone to attend a wedding that night, leaving the girl alone at home. When the family returned, the brother found his sister in a compromising position with her boyfriend, the police said. The police further quoted the brother as saying that after catching his sister with her boyfriend, he and his friends beat the boy and girl. The girl allegedly rushed to a room where she hanged herself to death. Meanwhile, the boyfriend escaped. However, the police suspect the girl was beaten to death and later burnt and dumped on the bank of the Dharmawati river. But the body could not be disposed of completely because it rained that night, and the half-burnt body was later discovered by the police. The brother also disclosed his father's role in the incident and the father was also arrested, police said. SP Raushan Kumar said that more persons will be named as accused in the case and those absconding will be arrested soon. He added that the body has been sent for post-mortem and the actual cause of the girl's death will be ascertained once the autopsy report is available....
