Four run over by Vande Bharat train
PURNIA, Oct. 4 -- Four boys belonging to the Mahadalit community were killed and another was seriously injured when a high-speed Vande Bharat train hit them while they were crossing the railway tracks near Kasba, about six km from Purnia Junction, early Friday morning, officials said.
The train coming from Jogbani in Araria district and heading towards Patliputra station ran over five boys around 5 am. Three died on the spot while another succumbed to injuries during treatment at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Purnia. The injured, 12-year-old Kuldeep Kumar, is undergoing treatment.
The deceased have been identified as Sundar Kumar (15), Sintu Kumar (14), Jigar Kumar (14) and Rohit Kumar (15) - all cousins from Thakurpatti village under Jankinagar police station in Madhepura district. The boys, who worked as daily wage labourers at a makhana processing unit in Purnia, were returning home after visiting a Durga Puja fair when the incident occurred.
