JAMSHEDPUR, Aug. 2 -- Four more Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) peronnel in Jharkhand were found to have been suffering from cerebral (brain) malaria, taking the cases in the central police force to 10, people aware of the development said. "Four jawans from CRPF battalion-193 were admitted here for treatment on Friday night and they have been admitted to the ward for alciparum infection. Meanwhile, one jawan admitted in the MGMMCH late on Thursday night has been forwarded to RIMS, Ranchi. He was suffering from brain malaria," a MGMMCH doctor said. Earlier on Wednesday, a CRPF jawan Pintu Kumar Sao died of the disease during teratment at the MGMMCH. Brain malaria has been confirmed by another CRPF jawan Om Prakash Paswan from the Musabani camp of CRPF battalion-193, taking the number of malaria infected CRPF jawans to 10. A 35-year-old CRPF jawan Pintu Kumar Sao died on Wednesday. Meanwhile, cases of malaria or falciparum infection, espcially in children, are continuously ri. A 5-year-old girl was reported to have died of some unknown disease in Dhobni village of Patamda Block of East Singhbhum district which has been attributed to chicken pox by the doctors. "The 5-year-old girl died with high fever but her relatives said she had chicken pox. Instead of taking her to hospital they took her to a quack and died. Subsequent testing in the village confirmed four new patients of malaria, three of them with brain malaria," Dr Somen Dutta, Patamda CHC in-charge, told the media....
