BETTIAH, Aug. 9 -- The state vigilance department has registered an FIR against two people, including a woman, for allegedly seeking jobs as contractual teachers in government schools in Bihar's West Champaran on the basis of fraudulent certificates, officials said on Saturday. With this the tally of the FIR mounted to 143 across the state in 2026 alone, according to officials. "In these FIRs, a total of 143 people have been made the named accused," said an official of the vigilance department, requesting anonymity. Giving the further details, the officer as many as 3,065 people have been found accused of seeking job the basis of fraudulent certificate as contractual teachers in the state after a division bench directed the director of Bihar vigilance department to investigate the charge of fake degree certificates recruited between 2006 and 2015. "The educational and training certificates of 3,52,927 contractual staff posted in senior secondary, secondary, elementary and librarians across the state were to be investigated," said the officer, citing inquiry number BS-8/2015. Providing the details about the cases registered against two teachers with Bagaha town police station, Puran Kumar Sharma, block education officer (BEO), Bagaha -1 said the documents of two teachers, identified as Rajesh Prasad Yadav and Shanti Mishra have been found fake.
