Farhan Akhtar's family driver booked in Rs 12 lakh fuel card fraud case, admits guilt
India, Oct. 5 -- Actor Farhan Akhtar's family driver, who worked for his mum, screenwriter Honey Irani, has been booked by the Mumbai Police in a fuel card fraud case, along with an employee of a petrol pump located near Bandra Lake.
The Bandra police registered a case against driver Naresh Ramvinod Singh, 35, and petrol pump employee Arun Amar Singh under sections 316 (2) 318 (4) and 3 (5) of the BNS after a complaint was filed by Honey's manager, Diya Bhatia, 36, on October 1.
The driver allegedly used a card issued in Farhan's name to fill fuel in Honey Irani's vehicles and worked with the pump employee to siphon off money. Records showed he claimed to fill 62 litres of diesel in a car with a 35-litre capacity and also purchased oil for a vehicle sold seven years ago.
During interrogation, Singh confessed, revealing he had been using the card since 2022, obtaining cash amounts of Rs.1,000-Rs.1,500 per transaction without actually refuelling.
