PATNA, July 25 -- Former Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) state spokesperson Mritunjay Tiwary joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday along with hundreds of supporters at a membership ceremony held at the party's state headquarters in Patna. Tiwary had resigned from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on July 16, alleging that dedicated and loyal workers were no longer respected within the party. BJP state president Sanjay Saraogi formally inducted Tiwary into the party in the presence of senior BJP leaders. Several other leaders from the RJD and Jan Suraaj Party also joined the BJP, including Arvind Kumar Ashok, national president of the Sanatan Sevak Sansthan, Mukesh Shukla, Amar Kumar Singh, Kaushal Kumar, Sandeep Kumar Dubey, Manish Kumar, Sawan Kumar Gupta, Amit Chaubey and Ankit Kumar, said a BJP press release. Welcoming the new entrants, Saraogi said Tiwary's decision reflected the growing confidence of people from across political and social backgrounds in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership and the BJP's policies. Describing Tiwary as "a leader committed to clean politics," he remarked that he had been "in the wrong party" and had now found the right political platform. Saraogi said Tiwary's experience as an effective spokesperson and organiser would strengthen the BJP's organisational structure in Bihar.
