PATNA, Sept. 1 -- The economic offences unit (EOU) has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe complaints of irregularities in the main written examination conducted by the Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) in May for the 1799 posts of police sub-inspector. The EOU has took over the two FIRs registered in Purnia and Gaya's Rampur police station regarding irregularities in the exam process. The EOU will also check whether there was any malpractice in any other district or examination centre on the pattern of Gaya and Purnia. In this regard, the EOU officials held a meeting on Monday and prepared a detailed action plan. The evidence found in the police investigation so far and the FIR registered have also been studied. Earlier, a student delegations had met the secretary of the education department with their various demands, including a probe into the SI recruitment exam. In view of this, on the directions of the state government, the EOU has taken over the case already registered in Gaya and Purnia. Apart from these two FIRs, the EOU got complaints from his helpline number and other platforms. Some students and parents have suspect rigging in the SI recruitment exam. BPSSC has already postponed the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and documents verification of SI recruitment till further orders. A total of 35,857 candidates had appeared in the preliminary written examination, out of which 414 candidates have been disqualified due to various reasons. On the query of the question paper of the SI recruitment examination coming out of from the examinations centre, the BPSSC claims that the picture of the unused question paper of the absent candidates was clicked by the staff at one centre in each of the two districts. This question paper also came out of the centre after the examination was over. There was no report of any paper leak or any large-scale malpractice in the examination. "The EOU has taken over two cases registered in Purnia and Gaya for proper investigation. An SIT has been formed to investigate both the cases. Some complaints have also been received, which are being investigating," said Manavjit Singh Dhillon, DIG, EOU. On the other hand chairman of BPSSC K S Dwivedi claimed, "No paper has been leaked in the SI recruitment exam. The written test has been conducted with fairness and partial. On receiving complaints of unfairness in Purnia and Gaya, the Commission had itself registered FIRs in which the accused a student and teacher has been arrested and forwarded to judicial custody"....
