PATNA, Aug. 21 -- The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) sleuths on Wednesday carried out raids at three locations linked to Anubhuti Srivastava, an executive engineer of Siwan Municipal Corporation (SMC), in connection with a disproportionate assets case, officials said. Searches were carried out at the engineer's residence in Gomtinagar, Lucknow, an apartment at Arpana Mansion in Rupaspur (Patna), and the office of the SMC. Srivastava is accused of amassing assets 79% higher than her known sources of income. He had earlier been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act by the Special Vigilance Unit (SVU) in August 2021, with a charge sheet already filed in court. At that time, investigators had found assets worth over Rs.1.99 crore, which was 230% higher than her income. Serious irregularities had surfaced in that case as well. Despite the pending trial, Srivastava-whose suspension was recently revoked-was appointed executive officer of the SMC.
