PATNA, July 30 -- Stage is now set for appointment of over 32,000 teachers under the Teachers Recruitment Examination-4 (TRE-4) drive, as the education department on Wednesday sent the requisition of as many teachers to the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC). Chief minister Samrat Choudhary informed this through a post on social media platform X. The CM stated that the maximum number of teachers would be appointed for classes 11-12. Of the total 32,388, 16,101 teachers would be specially recruited for classes 11 and 12. The department's move ends an excruciating wait for many candidates, preparing for years for the teaching job. The TRE-3 was held in 2024 amid some initial disruptions. Appointment letters were distributed to around 66,800, in early 2025. Conducting TRE-4 would a major challenge for BPSC to ensure a free and fair examination. Officials of BPSC said the commission was ramping up its mechanism to conduct a trouble-free exam, as it was going to be held after the nationwide protest of students over question paper leak and irregularities in the NEET 2026 examination. The fresh vacancies are also expected to give chance to candidates, who cleared Bihar State Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) in recent rounds. Many STET-qualified teachers, especially those eligible for secondary and senior secondary levels, have been waiting for openings in higher classes (11-12), where subject specialists are needed. The substantial allocation for higher secondary posts in TRE-4 should provide much-needed opportunities for them. Officials said the appointment of fresh teachers would help strengthen the education system, in accordance with the government's vision of empowering students.
