Dissidence hits RLM as MLAs warm up to BJP
PATNA, Dec. 27 -- Days after Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) president Upendra Kushwaha announced plans to expand the party beyond Bihar, the NDA ally has been hit by serious internal dissent, triggered by allegations of dynastic politics and unilateral decision-making.
The RLM, which won four of the six seats it contested in the recent Bihar assembly polls, is facing rebellion from three of its four MLAs. The fourth MLA is Kushwaha's wife, Snehlata, who won from Sasaram. The dissenting MLAs - Madhav Anand, Rameshwar Mahato, and Alok Kumar Singh - have openly criticised what they describe as "suicidal decisions" taken by the party leadership.
Kushwaha's move to secure a cabinet berth for his son, Deepak Prakash, who is neither an MLA nor an MLC, has reportedly caused deep resentment among elected legislators, several of whom were expecting ministerial positions.
Discontent became public when Bajpati MLA Rameshwar Mahato posted a cryptic message on social media, questioning leadership intent and warning against prioritising self-interest over public interest. Mahato was reportedly among those hoping for a ministerial role.
