PATNA, July 31 -- Director General of Police Vinay Kumar on Thursday directed formation of special cells in every district to prevent human trafficking, officials said, adding he also ordered special units in all women police stations, while expressing concern over low recovery rate of children and women in such cases. "Missing cases of children in Bihar have increased three to four times in last five years. Altogether, 8,000 cases of general kidnapping were reported in 2020, which increased to more than 24,000 in 2025. The recovery rate of children and women is 70%," he said. At an event in the police headquarters auditorium on 'World Day Against Trafficking in Persons', the DGP said that one unit in women' s police stations will work against human trafficking while the other unit will look into cases related to crimes against women and children. Both units will be commanded by inspector rank. Kumar asked the weaker section unit of CID to prepare a proposal related to this and send it. He added that the command of the women police station should be with an officer of DSP rank. ADG (weaker sections) KS Anupam said that 1,200 police stations in the state have been linked to Vatsalya portal that uploads information of missing children. It is mandatory for all police stations to upload complete information of missing children on this portal. The records of more than 10,000 children have been uploaded on it till now. So far, 109 traffickers have been arrested under the Naya Savera 3.0 campaign. The maximum number of traffickers were arrested in Patna district.
