Death sentence for minor's rape, murder in Bihar
SASARAM, July 11 -- The special Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) court of district and additional sessions judge 7, Sasaram, Arvind, on Friday, awarded death penalty to a man for rape and brutal murder of a 10-year-old girl.
Accused Balram Singh alias Baliram Singh (48), of Gangauli under Dalmianagar police station was found guilty under sections 302 and 201 of IPC and section 6 of the POCSO Act.
The court pronounced the death sentence and a fine of Rs.50,000 under the POCSO Act, rigorous life imprisonment (RI) and a fine of Rs.50,000 under Section 302 IPC and one year's additional imprisonment for each section if he failed to pay the fine. He will also undergo five years RI and pay a fine of Rs.10,000 under Section 201 of IPC, plus an additional six months' imprisonment in case of non-payment, special public prosecutor Hira Pratap Singh said.
On November 15, 2020, the accused lured the girl to his house under the pretext of giving her a toy and raped her. Then he murdered her and hid her body in a box to destroy the evidence. A case was registered with Dalmianagar police station and police submitted charge-sheet, recommending speedy trial of the case, the special PP said.
