PATNA, Nov. 16 -- Just a day after opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal ( RJD)'s poll debacle, party president Lalu Prasad's daughter Rohini Acharya on Saturday announced that she was "quitting politics" and severed ties with the family, hinting towards a feud with her brother Tejashwi Yadav's close aides -- Sanjay Yadav and Rameez. "I am quitting politics and I am disowning my family.This is what Sanjay Yadav and Rameez had asked me to do.and I am taking all the blame," she wrote in her post on X. Sanjay Yadav is the Rajya Sabha MP from RJD and one of the most trusted aides of Tejashwi Yadav, the son and heir apparent of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad. Rameez is said to be Tejashwi's old friend who is son-in-law of jailed former MP of UP's Balrampur, Rizwan Zaheer. The RJD MP is not only close to Tejashwi, he is said to be the key strategist of RJD. Insiders in the RJD feigned ignorance about what prompted Archarya to make the post on her X handle on Saturday but did admit that the 46-year-old homemaker-turned-poltiician's face-off with Sanjay Yadav a couple of months back in the run up to the state assembly polls and RJD's poll debacle may have some connection with the latest episode of growing feud in the RJD's first family. On Friday, when counting of votes took place for Bihar polls, Archaya had put posts on her X handle appealing RJD workers to remain vigilant during the counting process and not allow any tampering with the counting process by staying put at the centers. "There is more to what meets the eye. Rohini has issues with Sanjay Yadav pertaining to the latter's stature as a key aide of Tejashwi. There could be some internal squabbling in the family which led to Rohini making the post," said a Grand Alliance leader, seeking anonymity. A couple of months back , Archarya, who had donated one of her kidney to her father Lalu for a kidney transplant in December 2022, had a face off with Sanjay Yadav when he was red flagged by Lalu's daughter for sitting in the front seat of a campaign vehicle during Tejashwi's yatra ahead of the state polls. Acharya had shot to limelight for donating a kidney to her father a few years ago. There were speculations that Archarya, who had unsuccessfully contested the 2024 Lok Sabha polls from Saran seat, was upset with Tejashwi and his close aide over not getting much clout in the party as she had made a series of posts on her X handle, saying "she would never compromise with her self respect and has no lust for power". Later, Archarya and Sanjay Yadav dismissed reports of any rift between them. Meanwhile, there was no official reaction from the RJD MP over Archarya's post. BJP spokesperson Neeraj Kumar said it was unfortunate that Archarya who donated her kidney to her father was now compelled to sever ties with her family. "This is an indication how the RJD's first family is facing a crisis of internal squabbling and sibling rivalry," he said.
