CS sets 1-week deadline for self-listing campaign for census 2027
PATNA, April 21 -- Bihar chief secretary Pratyaya Amrit on Monday directed all district magistrates to accelerate self-enumeration and house listing block census (HLBC) work, asking underperforming districts to achieve visible progress within a week following a statewide review, said a press release issued by the chief secretary's cell.
Officials said more than 3.28 lakh self-enumeration entries have been completed across Bihar since the exercise began on April 17.
The review, conducted via video conferencing, assessed the progress of self-enumeration as well as the demarcation and geo-tagging of house listing blocks. Districts including Vaishali, Madhubani, Khagaria, Bhagalpur and Saharsa were found to be performing well in self-enumeration. In HLBC demarcation and geo-tagging, Saharsa, Siwan, Rohtas, Purnia and Khagaria emerged as top performers.
Districts where progress was below expectations have been instructed to adopt targeted strategies and improve outcomes within the next seven days, said the release.
Emphasising the national importance of the exercise, Amrit instructed district magistrates to conduct daily reviews to ensure timely and effective implementation of the ongoing census-related activities.
Director of census operations Ranjita informed the chief secretary that each district has designated a nodal officer to address technical issues, train enumerators, and assist in demarcation and geo-tagging tasks.
