PATNA, Sept. 28 -- Banka police on Sunday arrested three men accused in connection with a viral video showing the harassment of a young woman at Mandar Hill in Bihar's Banka district, police said. The arrest follows the demolition of illegal constructions linked to the three accused, identified as Mohammad Abdullah, Nitish Kumar and Vikas Rai, and the removal of encroachments on government land. Banka SP Amitesh Kumar said that three men have been arrested and are being interrogated. "All three youths are residents of the Barahat police station area. During investigation, it revealed that the accused assaulted the girl and took Rs 1500 from her account through PhonePe. An FSL team inspected the spot collected evidence," he added. Bhagalpur range IG Vivek Kumar said, "The video came to the police's notice on 22 September via WhatsApp and other social media platforms. The police soon came into action and during investigation revealed that the video was almost three months old on June 3, 2026. Upon seeing the video, Bounsi police arrived at Mandar Hill to verify the scene and identified the faces shown in the footage. On the basis of the investigation, the police lodged an FIR against 6 to 7 anti-social elements under sections 74 (use of criminal force against a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty), 75 (sexual harassment), 76 (use of criminal force against a woman with the intent to disrobe her) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with sections 66E and 67A of the Information Technology Act, 2000," said the IG. The IG said that investigations revealed that on June 3 the victim came to Mandar Hill with two friends. "During this time, anti- social elements, surrounded her in an isolated area. The accused, clearly visible in the video identified as forcibly grabbed the woman's hand and harassed her." Police said illegal constructions and encroachments were removed by bulldozing the huts of the accused at Chihaar village under Barahat police station area....
