DARBHANGA, Sept. 17 -- The court of chief judicial magistrate (CJM) Junaid Alam on Tuesday rejected the regular bail petition of Mohammad Rizvi alias Raja, an accused in Simri PS case no. 243/25. The complaint had been lodged alleging that objectionable remarks were made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his mother at an event organised during Rahul Gandhi's Voter Adhikar Yatra in Darbhanga. According to complainant's counsel Amarnath Jha, the case was registered on August 28 on the written complaint of BJP district president (Darbhanga West) Aditya Narayan Choudhary 'Manna.' Police had arrested Rizvi, a resident of Bhapura, on August 29 and produced him before the court, which remanded him to judicial custody. On Tuesday, the defence argued that Rizvi had no prior criminal history and was not a named accused in the FIR. However, the prosecution, represented by the district prosecution officer and complainant's counsel, opposed bail, terming it a 'social offence.'...
