PATNA, Aug. 21 -- Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) chief Rajesh Ram on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming visit to Gaya Ji, dubbing it a 'political campaign disguised as a government event.' Talking to media persons at the BPCC headquarters - Sadaqat Ashram - during the break of Voter Adhikar Yatra, Ram accused the BJP-led government of failing to deliver on its promises while exploiting sacred sites for electoral gains. Referring to Modi's 2015 announcement to transform Bodh Gaya into the 'spiritual capital of the world', Ram questioned the lack of progress. "Ten years have passed, but where is the roadmap, the budget, or any tangible achievement? The people of Bihar have been left with nothing but empty promises," he said. He further criticised the Prime Minister's rhetoric toward conservation of environment, pointing out the irony of hundreds of trees being felled at Magadh University's campus in Bodh Gaya to accommodate Modi's rally. "Is this the 'environmental love' and 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' that the PM preaches?" Ram asked, highlighting the contradiction between Modi's tree-planting campaigns and the destruction of greenery for political events. Ram emphasised that Bodh Gaya, home to the sacred Bodhi Tree - a symbol of peace, faith, and nature - has been disrespected by such actions. "The reckless felling of trees for electoral benefits is an attack on both our spiritual heritage and the environment," he stated. The Congress leader accused the BJP-JDU coalition of reducing Bihar to a 'land of speeches, photo-ops, and hollow promises'. He listed alleged failures of the state government, including a Rs.70,000 crore scam, irregularities in entrance and recruitment exams, rampant unemployment, migration, and the controversial SIR (Special Investment Region) policy. "The people of Bihar demand accountability based on facts, not empty slogans," Ram asserted....
